2021 NLL Week 7

Week 7 was the busiest week in recent memory with eight games, including two OT thrillers on Friday night, a bunch of close games on Saturday plus one blowout, and the Knighthawks continuing their undefeated season on Sunday afternoon. Can they match the Edmonton Rush’s 14-0 start from 2014? I doubt it, but I also doubted they’d be 5-0 at this point in the season.

2023 NLL Week 6

Lots of awesome this week, including a couple of huge milestones for some veteran players. Continue reading

2023 NLL Week 5

Happy New Year one and all! Not a lot to talk about this week. I didn’t see the PCLC/Sask game on New Year’s Eve so I have no comments on that one. This coming weekend is a busy one with seven games, six of which are on Saturday night including four at the same time.

2023 NLL Week 3

Seven exciting games in week three. A couple of 9-goal blowouts, a couple of 1-goal nailbiters, and the first-ever home game for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs. Lots of awesome again this week, so let’s get to it.

2023 NLL Week 2

A whole lotta awesome this week, and other than the obvious (teams that lose are unlikely to think that game was awesome), not much that wasn’t.

NLL Playoffs Week 7: Championship Game 3

Congratulations to the Colorado Mammoth, the 2022 NLL Champions. The three games of the finals were outstanding in their excitement and entertainment levels, and an upset in the Championships always adds to the drama. The only thing that sucks about the 2022 NLL Playoffs is that they’re over.

NLL Playoffs Week 6: Championship Games 1 and 2

I was away on vacation last weekend, so there was no weekly report. I travelled to Quebec City for a long weekend with my wife and in-laws. Both the weather and the city were beautiful and we had a lot of fun. The only downside to the trip was that I had to watch Game 1 of the NLL Finals on my phone while sitting on a train between Montreal and Quebec City. It certainly wasn’t ideal, but the fact that I was able to watch it at all was pretty cool, and the fact that the 10-15 minutes where I lost the internet completely did not happen during the fourth quarter was also good. NLL Playoffs Week 4: Division Finals Game 3

The Finals are set: the Bandits will take on the Colorado Mammoth for the 2022 NLL title. This is a rematch of the 2006 Finals, the only other Championship appearance for the Mammoth, where they beat the Bandits 16-9. Nobody who played in that game is still an active player, but the lineups included both current head coaches (Pat Coyle and John Tavares), as well as Bandits GM Steve Dietrich, Knighthawks GM Dan Carey, and a few other head and assistant coaches from around the league: Dan Stroup, Chris Gill, and Billy Dee Smith.

NLL Playoffs Week 3: Division Finals Game 2

There are at most four NLL games left in the season, and only three teams left. The Bandits now have a weekend off before facing either the Seals or Mammoth in the finals, and I’m sure that will be an awesome series. But what was awesome about last weekend? I’m glad you asked.

NLL Playoffs Week 2: Division Finals Game 1

The division finals started this past weekend with two fantastic and entertaining close games. On Friday, the underdog Mammoth came from behind three times but the Seals tied it up in the fourth quarter before Zed Williams scored his fifth to give Colorado the lead they wouldn’t give up. Meanwhile, Sunday night in Buffalo featured another exciting back-and-forth game, similar to Friday’s but with higher numbers.
